One site = one domain: which domain should I enter?
Why ChatSEO only keeps the domain of the address you enter, and what to enter for a site in a subfolder or a shop on a marketplace.
In ChatSEO, a site is a domain. When you add a site, ChatSEO only keeps the domain of the address you enter.
What ChatSEO strips
- the protocol:
https://; - the
www.; - everything after the domain:
/blog,/shop,/en/…
For example, https://www.mydomain.com/blog becomes mydomain.com.
A subdomain is kept as is: blog.mydomain.com stays blog.mydomain.com.
Which domain to enter
Enter the domain your site lives on, like mydomain.com. No need to add https:// or www..
Your site is in a subfolder (like mydomain.com/shop)? ChatSEO cannot isolate that subfolder: the saved site will be mydomain.com, and the analysis covers the whole domain.
Your site is on a subdomain (like shop.mydomain.com)? Enter the full subdomain: it is kept as is.
A shop on a marketplace (Etsy, Amazon…)
A shop hosted on a marketplace does not have its own domain. If you enter etsy.com/shop/myshop, ChatSEO keeps etsy.com: that is Etsy's site that would get analysed, not your shop.
ChatSEO works on a site you own, on your own domain. If you have a website on top of your shop, enter that site's domain. ChatSEO does not publish to marketplaces either: the CMSs you can connect are covered in connecting ChatSEO to WordPress.
Entered the wrong domain?
To change or add a site, read deleting, replacing or adding a site. Careful: deleting a site also deletes its conversations and documents.
